Increasingly, students are faced with a choice between two key ways of education in Germany: obtaining higher education at the university or secondary vocational education (AUSBILDUNG). In this article, we will figure out what the pros and cons of each of the directions are.

AUSBILDUNG is professional training, or secondary special education in Germany. Earlier, the university road seemed the most attractive, but in recent years, the growth of the number of students who prefer the Ausbildung path has become noticeable. AUSBILDUNG programs have a number of advantages, and the main one is that a diploma of secondary vocational education is valid throughout Germany. It is also a good opportunity to get a profession with theory and practice in a short period.
As for higher education, the obvious advantages include a flexible training plan of training, a diploma of higher education in the European model, received upon completion of the university, good prospects for salaries and careers and the possibility of obtaining a degree in the future. However, there are important nuances here - for example, the admission after 11 classes of the school is impossible, it is necessary to unlearn a year in full -time in your native country, or to undergo studies in a studio room before entering a German university. Also, universities are given very limited practical experience in comparison with AUSBILDUNG, and basic specialties often require additional specialization.
AUSBILDUNG makes it possible to enter immediately after 11 classes of the school in Russia and the CIS (and some areas can be entered after 9), as well as obtaining unlimited practical experience. Moreover, for admission to many AUSBILDUNG programs, a requirement for opening a blocked account is not presented, and students of secondary specialized education can receive monthly salary-style and career experience already during their studies, as students undergo production practice in parallel with training and receive a scholarship (it is approximately 900 euros per month).
True, it is worth noting that there are two types of Ausbildung: Schulische ausbildung and Duale Ausbildung. Production practice is present in the second case, in the first - training is held at a school where theoretical lessons and practical classes are combined.
The disadvantages of Ausbildung include the absence of the possibility of a transition to a magistracy after graduation and, accordingly, obtaining a scientific degree. Also, the average salaries of bachelors are still higher, and this difference grows every year after release.
Of course, the choice of education depends on your goals and priorities. For example, if you graduated from only 11 school classes and are not ready to open a blocked account, then the AUSBILDUNG program will be an excellent choice for you.
